ABOUT:
HIVCareNet.net©
is a unique endeavor that aims to address unmet information and care access
needs for the infected HIV/AIDS community and their providers of care in the
East Central Florida region. Geographically
this area includes primarily Orange County with its surrounding counties of
Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Lake and Volusia.
HIVCareNet.net is the first comprehensive, user-friendly regional
website that can serve the information and care needs of the large group of
people living with HIV/AIDS. Since the mission
of the initiative is so broad, it is a work in progress. It is founded on the key principle that the
Internet will enable people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) and the range of
providers involved in all aspects of their care to be better informed and
constantly updated on the resources in their communities. As shown in the sitemap, the HIVCareNet.net© has four areas
of concentration: education and research, medical (includes nursing) and
pharmacy care, service & care and finally community links. The four areas
cover the entire scope of service needs and available resources that concern
the greater HIV/AIDS community of ‘patients’ and ‘providers’. Through a large number of growing links to
multiple sites, the HIVCareNet.net©
provides specific and targeted information and tools that will empower infected
and affected individuals in the ongoing challenges of chronic HIV/AIDS illness.
Though the emphasis of the site is on HIV/AIDS, it will likely be useful to
individuals who wish to also explore general health related topics.
