Who is behind HIVCareNet.net?

The HIVCareNet.net^© was created by Asim A. Jani, MD, MPH, FACP who has served the HIV/AIDS community in Central Florida since 1995 as an infectious diseases physician and HIV specialist in the public sector.  He functions as community educator of patients and providers, physician-advocate, consultant, and infectious disease expert currently employed in the Florida Department of Health.  The project originally grew as his personal & professional response to the relative fragmentation of care in the community and lack of a single coordinated comprehensive site for health information on all aspects of HIV/AIDS.  It was his vision to see that a region-specific comprehensive web-based information, educational and service oriented resource be made available to the thousands of people involved in HIV/AIDS who are either consumers, providers or concerned citizens.  The creation of HIVCareNet.net^© became the focus of a ‘special project’ related to community health education and public health practice in the context of Dr. Jani’s MPH degree.  He obtained this from the University of South Florida College of Public Health in December 2001.  His website is currently at http://www.mydoctor.com/valmiki007/ .
