In order to get specific HIV/AIDS information follow the
instructions below to locate agencies that serve the HIV/AIDS community in the
county of interest – e.g., AIDS Drug Assistance Programs, Counseling &
Testing sites, Advocacy organizations, Housing, Legal, Medicaid, Medical
Services, STD, etc. use the “Telephone Counseling & Referral Service
(TCRS).” This site, TCRS is a private,
nonprofit agency located in Tallahassee, Florida. As is stated on the home page, they offer:
• telephone
counseling
• crisis intervention
• community information & referrals
• related training services
ONE of their joint endeavors involving the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of HIV/AIDS, Patient Care Services Program and the Florida HIV/AIDS Hotline – is the “Florida HIV Community Resource Directory.” The following steps outline how the ONLINE VERSION of this directory can be used to find out information you need.

Once you get to the online directory (http://www.irissoft.com/aids/) then,
follow the instructions below to find what you need:
1)
Press KEYWORDS (first tab) on the left hand part of the tab group
(other ones being Programs, Agency,Help and Options).
2)
Find the category of service (e.g., AIDS Drug Assistance Program –
ADAP, Advocacy, Buddy Program, Counseling, etc.) in the window and click on the
item to highlight the choice.
3)
Below this left hand window, you will find 4 ways to search for the
information – “All Areas” , “Zip Code” , “A City” and “Larger Area”. Click on your choice and you will see a
corresponding choice come up on the right hand part of the screen.
4)
Either fill in the zip code box or choose the area or city you need and
then press ‘submit’.
5)
This will enable the search for your category of service organization
according to the area(s) of concern – city, zip code, county, etc.. Follow all
instructions as they appear until it states that “the search has been reset
to….”
6)
Finally press the “SEARCH NOW” button on the left hand bar to complete
your search.
7)
You
will hopefully see the places (names, phone number, etc.) with a weblink to a
more detailed description of the site including a map and a way to even
translate the information.
